The Zanui dollhouse is an amazing toy, complete with working electricity, elevators, hot and cold running water, and a garden in 1:12 scale. The dollhouse also features the finest craftsmen and manufacturers of the time, including marble staircases, silver dinner services, hand-embroidered furniture, and sparkling crowns. Even the thrones are velvet-cushioned and feature sparkling crowns. The story behind the dollhouse is as fascinating as its appearance.
The earliest of the Zanui dollhouses were produced in the 1950s. The basic rectangular design of the house was made of bright red painted on the exterior and a blue-painted wooden frame. Inside were five rooms, including a kitchen, bath, and living room. The dollhouse even featured a wooden spiral staircase, and was electrified. Other dollhouse makers, like Lerro, produced the same style and dimensions.
