To add the final touch to your dollhouse, you can add realistic-looking shingles to its roof. These shingles are made of wood and are often tricky to apply. Follow the steps below to lay a beautiful, authentic-looking shingle roof on your miniature home. If you want to make a more permanent change, you can paint the shingles a different color after removing them. Once dry, they can be painted to match the color of the rest of the house.
Unlike real shingles, dollhouse shingles are sold in packages of three square centimeters or one square foot. To determine how many you need, you must first measure the square area of the dollhouse roof. The dimensions of a square foot are the same as the square centimeters, so you must divide the area by 144 inches or nine centimeters. If you are making a more complicated roof, you will need more shingles.
When building a dollhouse with a wooden roof, you’ll have to cut a sheet of paper to size. You can also use a template that you’ve created for another project.
